Thakur International School, Kandivali, Mumbai is a co-educational day school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi and the Cambridge Assessments International Examinations (CAIE), UK. The school was founded in 2007 by the Zagdu Singh Charitable Trust. The school’s mission is to inspire students and empower them with courage, optimism and integrity to help them pursue their dreams and change the lives of others.
The school’s classrooms are bright and fully air-conditioned. The library is built on two levels with a study area for private and group use. There are three science laboratories, one computer lab, an audiovisual room, a canteen and a medical infirmary managed by a qualified nurse. The school’s sports infrastructure includes facilities for skating, badminton, basketball, swimming, cricket, table tennis, volleyball, chess, carrom and lawn tennis.
At the preschool level, the school offers an extremely child friendly environment and infrastructure. The class rooms are equipped with child-size furniture, indoor and outdoor play areas and toys for the child’s cognitive and physical development. At this level, ‘Play Way’ method of teaching is followed and the curriculum focuses on cognitive and motor development. i-Math is used to stimulate kids; it is a form of pre-mathematics (logical reasoning, matching, object, size and color recognition). Activities such as dancing, singing, drawing and painting are offered for the tiny tots. Encouraging children to eat healthy food with their fellow students is also part of the values inculcated.
The school offers ICSE and Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) curriculum. The school offers the Cambridge International Primary Program (CIPP) that lays emphasis on core subjects such as English, mathematics and science. Besides these core subjects, the school offers subjects such as geography, history, information technology, art, music and design and technology as supplementary subjects. The school also follows a sound language policy at the primary level through introduction of French, Hindi and Marathi as additional languages.
The Secondary Program in the school integrates the Cambridge Lower Secondary Program (CLSP) and the following core subjects are offered at the lower secondary level – English (first language), Hindi (second language), French (foreign language), core subjects – math, science, information technology, and economics and co-curricular subjects – art, music, design and technology.
In classes IX and X, the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum provides a solid foundation for higher level courses such as GCE A and AS Levels or the International Baccalaureate Diploma, and develops in students essential skills including thinking skills, research skills, application of knowledge, problem-solving skills and team work. IGCSE offers various subjects under the heads of languages, mathematics, humanities, sciences, vocational and technical subjects.
Extracurriculars
The school has tied up with Helen ‘O Grady group to train students in speech and drama. The students also learn art, craft, music and dance.
Coaching is provided for skating, badminton, basketball, swimming, cricket, table tennis, volleyball, chess, carrom and lawn tennis.

ICSE Section – Admissions are offered for play group and nursery to class IX.
The age criteria for admission to Thakur International School is as follows:
Parents can obtain the application form from the school office and submit the same by paying the registration fee within the specified period. Parents are notified regarding the admission status, after which parents of selected candidates can pay the applicable fee /charges/expenses.
Fees
Fees are payable quarterly by way of cash or demand draft drawn in favor of “Thakur International School-CIE” or Zagdu Singh Charitable Trust” payable at Mumbai. Details on fees can be obtained from the school office.
The fees should be paid in four equal installments. The first installment is to be paid at the time of admission, and subsequently, on or before 15th March, 15th July, 15th October and 15th January.
