Thane Zilla Parishad’s proactive approach to education is making a meaningful impact on the lives of 196 children from brick kiln worker families. The innovative “Brick to Inn” program, initiated last year, specifically caters to children aged six to 14 who accompany their parents to the brick kilns in Bhiwandi, Murbad, and Shahpur talukas.

The success of the doorstep teaching program is attributed to the collaborative efforts of various agencies engaged by the zilla parishad to conduct classes directly at the brick kilns. This strategy ensures the maximum coverage of out-of-school children in the district. Chayadevi Shishode, CEO of Thane Zilla Parishad, emphasized the program’s popularity, highlighting the dedication of the district administration and the zilla parishad’s education department.

In addition to providing essential education, the zilla parishad extends financial support by allocating Rs 2,486 for each student’s schooling. This commitment reflects the prioritization of education in the zilla parishad’s overall budget of Rs 104.66 crore. The allocation includes provisions for public health, education, irrigation, and public works, underscoring the comprehensive approach to address diverse community needs. Thane Zilla Parishad’s dedication to improving education access for vulnerable communities stands as a commendable example of grassroots initiatives fostering positive change.
