Overview

The Assam Valley School, Balipara is a co-ed boarding school affiliated with The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). Founded in 1995 by the Williamson Magor Education Trust, the school prides itself in being a ‘School for adventure’ where education cherishes, enhances and inspires a student to be the best that they can be. The institution was founded with the core aspiration of bringing an institution to North-Eastern India which will be an amalgamation of the dynamics of a public school with a pan-Indian reach.

Offering state-of-the-art infrastructure, high-quality faculty, contemporary IT-enabled pedagogies, advanced pastoral care and a plethora of co-curricular and extra-curricular options, AVS seeks to help the students attain their fullest academic potential and facilitate the imparting of a holistic education which addresses the physical, cultural and artistic realms. Campus

Sited on a 270 acres campus situated amidst the tea-gardens of Assam’s Sonitpur district, the Assam Valley School features an expansive green campus combining its pastoral environment with its state-of-the-art infrastructure.  

Facilities include well-equipped labs for biology, biotech, chemistry, physics, and computer. The campus also has a craft and design centre (CDT) and a well-stocked library.

The sport facilities on-campus include a swimming pool, and multiple sports fields, courts and practice halls for archery, horse-riding, basketball, tennis, football, volleyball, cricket, cricket, taekwondo and athletics.

The campus includes a central dining hall, and accommodation includes separate girls and boys dormitories including a senior common room and guest houses doubling up as the staff club.

Academics

Affiliated with the Council for the Indian School certificate examination, AVS offers sixty-four activities/disciplines each academic year that students are encouraged to participate in. Students also have the opportunity to showcase their talents by participating in the numerous inter and intra-school activities the school organizes. A new Specialization Programme has been initiated which will provide the students with extra time and training to hone their skills in Art, Craft Design & Technology (CDT), Music, Dance, Debating, Theatre and Quizzing.

General Information

Admission

For admission into Assam Valley School, all prospective parents are expected to register their wards for the Entrance Test. Any student from an English Medium School of any Board can register for the Entrance Test. The age chart for registration of applicants (applying for classes V-IX) must be strictly adhered to:

Class	V	VI	VII	VIII	IX
Age( in years)	10+	11+	12+	13+	14+

For admission to class XI, the applicants must be from an English Medium School and must have appeared for and passed class 10 examination from a recognized International/National/State Board.

The admission procedure includes a written test followed by an interview based on which a merit list is prepared. It is published on the Assam Valley School official website.

Fee structure for Indian pupils:

Lower school (classes V-VIII)- Rs 678,000 

(Rs 492,000 on admission + Rs 186,000 second instalment)

Upper school (classes IX-XII)- Rs 698,000

(Rs 504,000 on admission + Rs 194,000 second instalment)

Fee structure for overseas pupils:

Lower school (classes V-VIII)- Rs 693,000

(Rs 501,000 on admission + Rs 192,000 second instalment)

Upper school (classes IX-XII)- Rs 713,000

(Rs 513,000 on admission + Rs 200,000 second instalment)

The academic year starts in the month of May every year.

 

Achievement

• Assam Valley School celebrated the 25th Founders’ celebrations from 10th to 13th February 2021. The silver jubilee celebrations were celebrated with the first edition of The Silver Jubilee Debate between the alumni and the present debating team (February 11), a dance-drama ‘The Game of Dice’ from the Mahabharata and a very well-crafted presentation from the Electronic Media team (February 12) and the inter-house athletics and march part (February 13).
• On January 2, 2021, AVS selected out of 5000 schools in the World Register of Private Schools, was a Finalist of World School Award in Top School India category.
• In the National Creativity Olympiad (NCO) held in December 2020, seven students from AVS were selected in the 2nd round and all of them secured All India ranking, with four students having also been awarded cash prizes.
• The Assam Valley School organised the AVS Multilingual Fest for classes 5 and 6.
• Activities like Slam Poetry, Read n Rhyme, Tell a Tale, Music Club, Movie Club, Book Club, Become a Character and Create a Disguise infused a lot of confidence and creativity among the children and generated eloquent recitations, zealous performances and excited faces.
• Assam Valley School participated in the Melange Art Festival hosted by The Mayo College Girls School, Ajmer and several students from AVS secured first and second positions in categories such as Digital Image Manipulation on the theme Portrait,-Poster Making in Retro style and Portrait making competition.

Its accommodation comprises a separate girls and boys dormitories including a senior common room and guest houses doubling up as the staff club.
