The Hindu Senior Secondary School, Indira Nagar, Chennai is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Started in 1978 by the Hindu Education Society, the school boasts 2408 students from kindergarten through class XII.
The 2.22 acre school campus hosts 60 spacious, well ventilated classrooms, a library stocked with 16900 books and subscription to 18 magazines, well equipped labs for physics, chemistry and biology, dance rooms, music room, medical infirmary, an indoor games and multipurpose auditorium.
The school also hosts two audio visual rooms, an exclusive Kindergarten block with a large play area and large playground with an open stage.
At the kindergarten level, children learn English, number work, story telling, creative work, general knowledge, PT and in UKG they have additional subjects such as language (Tamil/Hindi) and moral science. From classes I to V children are taught English, II language (Tamil/Hindi), mathematics, science, social studies, moral science, general knowledge and PT.
In classes VI to VIII students have languages such as English, Hindi, Tamil and Sanskrit and core subjects like mathematics, integrated science (physics, chemistry and biology), social science (history, geography and civics), computer science and additional subjects such as art education and work experience, games.
Classes XI and X have scholastic subjects such as English as First language and Tamil/Hindi/Sanskrit as Second languages, mathematics, integrated science (physics, chemistry, biology), social science (history, civics, geography, economics) and co scholastic subjects such as computer technology, art education, work experience, physical and health education, values, skill and attitude.
At classes XI and XII, the school offers two streams namely:
Science: English core, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science
Commerce: English core, business studies, accountancy, economics, marketing, mathematics

The school’s admission period is from mid February to March 2014 for nursery. Admission to other classes is subject to availability. Class XI admissions commence after announcement of class X board exam results.
