The Lawrence School, Lovedale is a co-ed boarding school affiliated with Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. Established in 1858, it is one of the premier residential public schools in the country. It is an autonomous institution run under the aegis of The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

The Lawrence School, Lovedale was certified a Platinum IGBC Green Campus by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), an aegis of the prestigious Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The large expanse of the campus stretching over 720 acres is divided into prep school comprising classes V and VI, Junior School comprising classes VII and VIII and Senior School comprising classes IX-XII. The classrooms and dormitories of the schools are situated in their respective buildings. The girls are housed in the girls’ school and are required to attend classes in their respective buildings. The senior school, also referred to as “the boys’ school” (although the Senior School building also houses the classrooms of both boys and girls of classes IX to XII and the School’s administrative offices, besides the dormitories for the boys) is a magnificent two-storey building with a clock tower of 130 feet, built in Italian Gothic style and designed by Architect Robert Chisholm.
The infrastructure of the school also includes a heated swimming pool, athletic tracks (400 metres), courts for basketball, badminton, squash and tennis, fields for cricket, hockey, football, archery and horse-riding, indoor cricket nets, rooms for weight-training and billiards and snooker and a cross-country route. The campus also has one of the oldest and most resourceful libraries in the Nilgiris.
The school has kitchen and bakery, dining halls, well furnished dormitories, transport facilities, laboratories and mechanised laundry. It also houses a 50 bed infirmary with all basic facilities for health support.

The applicants are required to download the application form from the School website. Alternatively, the form can be collected from the Accounts Office for registration.
The Application Form along with the Registration Fee of Rs.15,000/- should be sent to the Headmaster at the earliest. (Registration does not guarantee admission). For admission to class XI, the registration is open till 31st January and the interaction will be held in the first week of April. The Registration Fee is neither refundable nor transferable.
The prospective parents must register the name of the students mentioning the class and academic year. Academic session in The Lawrence School, Lovedale begins in April each year. Class V is preferred as the entry point. Beyond these classes, there is seldom any vacancy, though seats occasionally become available in the higher classes. Admission is based on an Aptitude Analysis held in major Indian cities in the preceding November. Due to a large number of applicants, priority is given to those who register first. All students, except the children of the School staff members, are expected to stay in the boarding houses.

There are ambulance services on-campus and the infirmary functions round the clock under the care of a resident medical officer (RMO)/doctor, staff nurses and medicine dispensing unit with a pharmacist and two ambulances.
