The NorthCap University celebrates Road Safety Week 2017

With an aim to create awareness on road safety measures, The NorthCap University, Gurugram, hosted ‘Road Safety Week’ from January 11 to 17 as part of the National Road Safety Week. The event was hosted in association with secretary, Regional Transport Authority (RTA), and was presided over by chief guest, Balbir Singh, HPS, DCP Traffic, Gurugram, and Dharmender, HCS, secretary RTA, Gurugram.
The event was attended by RTA officials, pro-chancellor; Professor Prem Vrat, pro vice-chancellor; Brigadier SK Sharma (Retd), registrar; Colonel Bikram Mohanty (Retd), students, and staff members.

Appreciating the endeavour taken up by the university, the chief guest said, “We lose many precious lives every year in road accidents, it is need of the hour to focus on road safety measures.”

As part of the initiative, Trilok Sen Singh, HCS, secretary RTA, Gurugram, was invited to inaugurate a Pollution Checking Centre inside the campus on January 16.

The week long event featured various activities such as movie screening on road safety, display of road safety awareness posters on electronic notice boards in the university, quiz competition among students for instilling awareness, and Sh Dharmender display of boards throughout Gurugram.

The Road Safety Week culminated with a road safety walk through HUDA sector 23 – A, flagged by Singh.

The NorthCap University strives to enhance awareness and initiate improvement drives to help social causes. The main objectives of road safety week was to promote road safety practices in the society, encourage all the commuters to follow the traffic rules, use helmets and seat belts while driving, and maintain proper speed limit to prevent road accidents.
