Two students and an educator from India have been named among 15 global finalists for the World Education Medals 2025, announced on Thursday.
Raul John Aju, a 16-year-old from Kerala who founded AIrealm Technologies Pvt Ltd, and Bengaluru student Ashwat Prasanna, founder of EyeSight, are shortlisted in the Students category.
Vineeta Garg, Head of IT at a Delhi school, is among five finalists in the Educators category.
Mayank Dhingra, Director and Global Head of Education Business and Strategy at HP, the organisation behind the medals, said the finalists reflect ongoing efforts to advance the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. The awards recognise individuals using AI to improve learning outcomes and address equity gaps, across three categories: Leaders, Educators and Students.
Raul was selected for ThinkCraft Academy, which works to expand access to AI learning for students from rural areas to universities. Ashwat was recognised for his work to make STEM education accessible to visually impaired learners. Vineeta was shortlisted for EmpowerED with AI, which develops multilingual AI resources, accessible tools and gamified platforms for students and teachers.
Finalists this year also include individuals from the US, UAE, Philippines, Switzerland, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Italy and Greece.
Winners in each category will be announced next month at the Education Leaders Forum in London following a review by a Global Judging Academy.
