EducationWorld July 2019 | EW Analytics

The youngest state of the Indian Union, Telangana (pop.40 million) was carved out of Andhra Pradesh in 2014 with Hyderabad as its capital. This bustling city of nawabs and pearls (pop.10.9 million) rivals Bangalore as a nucleus of the information technology (IT), biotech and pharma industries and companies. With IT majors Facebook, Google, IBM and Microsoft having established large operations in Hyderabad, the state’s IT and ITES companies earned a revenue of US$ 14.50 billion (Rs.93,422 crore) in 2017-18. Hyderabad also accounts for approximately 20 percent of India’s exports of pharmaceutical drugs and formulations and is a major producer of rice, maize and cotton.

Ranked among India’s Top 10 states in the human development index of the Centre for Economic and Social Studies, Hyderabad and hosting a large middle class population serving in the new-age IT/pharma industries, the state has attracted a large number of edupreneurs who have established scores of new K-12 institutions in Hyderabad, Warangal, Nalgonda and Secunderabad. In the pages following, we present tables of Telangana’s top-ranked co-ed day, girls day, boys day, day-cum-boarding, full boarding and international schools as well as the rankings of the state’s day/boarding/international schools on 14 parameters of K-12 education excellence.
