The India Global Higher Education Alliance Forum 2024, hosted by College Board at The Lalit in New Delhi, served as a crucial gathering for education leaders to discuss strategies for expanding global student access, supporting transitions to higher education, and fostering successful outcomes. This influential forum focused on key issues including access, diversity, and the evolving role of assessments in admissions processes, emphasizing the importance of a student-centered approach. Notable sessions covered themes such as “Passport to Global Higher Education,” “The Evolving Role of Assessment,” and “Expanding Access to Rigour,” each contributing to a comprehensive view of the modern educational landscape.

The event also featured a keynote address from College Board on the global impact of AP® coursework, followed by insightful discussions on the internationalization of higher education and advancements in STEM education. Breakout sessions delved into trends in global admissions, the role of data and technology in recruitment, and the essential skills students will need to thrive in a rapidly evolving economy.

Rushi Sheth, Vice President of International at College Board, underscored the forum’s importance: “The 2024 College Board India Forum reaffirmed the essential role of collaborative efforts among local, national, and international educational institutions in supporting the diverse aspirations of Indian students. College Board, as a global not-for-profit, is dedicated to empowering students by offering university-level education resources and preparing them for future success across borders. Participating institutions included esteemed universities like MIT (USA), University of Cambridge (UK), University of Toronto (Canada), IE University (Spain), and Ashoka University (India), with senior representatives gathering to collaborate on enhancing global recruitment strategies and ensuring broad access to quality education. Discussions highlighted the importance of socioeconomic diversity, innovation in admissions, and global collaboration in addressing the challenges of today’s rapidly changing higher education landscape.

Meenakshi Kachroo Chatta, Senior Director and Head, India, South and Central Asia at College Board, expanded on the organization’s commitment to accessibility and equity: “This event has been instrumental in fostering collaboration among institutions to discover new ways to improve access to higher education. We are dedicated to supporting all students with big dreams, ensuring no student’s aspirations are hindered by technological or financial barriers. Our initiatives in India, such as the India Scholars Program and partnerships like Khan Academy, where we offer free practice resources, aim to empower students on their academic journey.”
