On April 8, TRIO World Academy, Bangalore conducted an exhibition on ‘Conservation of Energy’ as an environmental awareness initiative for the students. On the occasion, grade 5 students addressed the global issue on energy conservation and exhibited their small contribution towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations member states including India, in 2015. ‘Affordable and clean energy’ is among the 17 goals of the Sustainable Development agenda.
Reflecting on their responsibility as global citizens during the TRIO World Academy exhibition on Conservation of Energy, the students came up with the core idea of conserving and harnessing energy. They addressed conserving and harnessing different forms of energy like Kinetic Energy (Art in Motion), Bioluminescence, Piezoelectricity and many more.
Students took the responsibility of synthesising and applying their learning to the real world problems for the well-being of the global society. They spread awareness about harnessing energy through simple day to day activities.
As solar and wind energy have been very effective and efficient sources of renewable energy, they created a simulation of solar and wind energy that calculates the amount of energy that the solar and wind turbines for a certain amount of time. The goal was to make people aware of the potential effects of solar and wind energy.
“As a responsible global organisation, we are passionate about sustainable development and we understand that energy consumption leads to a more conscious lifestyle. The organisation is working towards engaging children in energy efficiency and encourage students to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives,” said Naveen K M, managing director, TRIO World Academy.
