Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced plans to establish a full-fledged ayurvedic college in the state, citing the growing popularity of ayurvedic treatments. The state’s 50-bed ayurvedic hospital remains busy, indicating high demand.
Speaking at the state-level Ayurvedic Day event at Prajna Bhavan, Saha credited the rise in ayurvedic interest to the NDA government’s focus on traditional medicine, noting the establishment of the Ayush Ministry under Prime Minister Modi.
State Health Secretary Kiran Gitte shared that the Ravi Shankar Foundation had expressed interest in setting up the college. Saha affirmed the government’s commitment, saying, “If we could quickly establish the Tripura Government Dental College, we can do the same for an ayurvedic college.”
Advanced diagnostic equipment is being introduced to the state ayurvedic hospital, with plans to add echocardiography and other tools soon. Saha also urged ayurvedic practitioners to focus on research and the use of local medicinal plants for treatment.
