UGC asks colleges to submit nominations for NEP student ambassadors

UGC

The University Grants Commission has invited colleges to submit their nominations for NEP Student Ambassador for Academic Reforms in Transforming Higher Education in India (SARATHI) or student ambassadors for efficient implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

To enhance students’ participation and create awareness of the various reforms in higher education, the UGC launched an initiative, ‘NEP SAARTHI- Student Ambassador for Academic Reforms in Transforming Higher Education in India’.

UGC had invited nominations from universities, colleges, and institutions for NEP SAARTHI, who have an outstanding personality, excellent communication skills, organizational capabilities, creativity, a sense of responsibility and being a team leader for conducting outreach programmes.

According to the commission, through NEP SAARTHI, the UGC aims to foster an environment where students can engage the students’ community as active participants in effectively implementing the provisions of NEP 2020.

Among the several responsibilities that have been enlisted for students who will be appointed sarathis are that they will organise the activities (debates, discussions, competitions, quizzes, and Nukkad natakas) as per the UGC NEP SAARTHIs activity Calendar and other activities as asked by the UGC from time to time. They will also disseminate information regarding NEP 2020 through Posters, Social Media campaigns, other media, and NEP helpdesk in the HEI events. While establishing a meaningful dialogue among students, faculty members, and administrators of the HEIs, they will also act as a bridge between the institute and UGC by gathering feedback about the aspects of NEP. They will, hence, act also as a student representative taking grievances back to the commission.

“UGC encourages you to make excellent use of this opportunity with great enthusiasm and dedication. We believe that your involvement in this initiative will not only be personally enriching but will also significantly contribute to shaping the future of Indian Higher Education. The list of selected candidates will be uploaded on the website,” the commission said in a notification.
