Education Minister to discuss CBSE board exams 2021 with teachers today

UGC, CBSE asked to coordinate on compartment exam result dates: Edu Minister

September 23, 2020

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has asked the Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC) to conduct a “coordinating meeting” regarding the date of CBSE Compartment result.

The directive issued by the ministry came following concerns of delay in results hampering the prospects of undergraduate admissions for students.

The Supreme Court directed CBSE to announce compartment examination result at the earliest. The court has also directed the UGC to ensure that compartment students get admission to colleges.

The top court had earlier asked the UGC not to declare the academic calendar till September 24. However, the Pokhriyal released the revised academic calendar today according to which, admission to first-year undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the session 2020-21 will be completed by the end of October 2020.

The new academic session will commence tentatively from November 1, 2020, for first-year students. The guidelines by an expect committee, set up for revising the academic calendar in view of COVID-19 pandemic, have been accepted by the UGC and accordingly universities have been recommended a six-day teaching learning schedule every week.

The court has also asked CBSE and UGC to work in tandem to ensure that the careers of two lakh students giving the compartment exams are not jeopardized.

On Tuesday,  Class 10 students appeared for the Social Science exam while Class 12 exams included Political Sciences, Physics, Biology, History and Accountancy.
