UGC Chief: NTA working on CUET-UG results, announcement soon

Jagadesh Kumar

University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar announced on Wednesday that the result date for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG will be announced soon.

The results, initially scheduled for June 30, have been delayed without an update from the National Testing Agency (NTA), potentially impacting university academic calendars.

“NTA is working on CUET results and will announce a date soon,” stated the UGC chairman.

This delay comes amid controversies over alleged irregularities in competitive exams, including NEET and NET. The CUET-UG, conducted in a hybrid mode for the first time, faced cancellations in Delhi due to logistical issues but was later rescheduled.

The NTA had planned to complete the third edition of CUET-UG in seven days without normalizing scores as exams were to be held in a single shift. The test, which saw over 13.4 lakh registrations for undergraduate courses in 261 universities, had 15 subjects in pen-paper mode and 48 in computer-based mode.

The first edition of CUET-UG in 2022 encountered technical glitches, leading to score normalization due to multi-shift testing.

Amidst controversies over NEET and NET, the Centre replaced NTA Director General Subodh Singh with a high-level panel headed by former ISRO chief R. Radhakrishnan to ensure transparent examinations. The NEET and UGC-NET are under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) due to irregularities and alleged paper leaks. Preemptive cancellations also affected CSIR-UGC NET and NEET-PG exams.
