The University Grants Commission has sent out a notification on Friday clarifying that the examination had started late at around 9.15 a.m. at this particular centre, when 174 candidates had successfully logged in. The exam was, however, disrupted by some unscrupulous elements at around 9.30 a.m. when the electricity was snapped by them in some of the rooms. The examination was immediately stopped. Local police and additional observer was immediately rushed in to assess the situation.
The examination later began at 11.15 a.m. and candidates were given full three hours to complete the paper, informed UGC.
Owing to the sensitivity of the incident, National Testing Agency (NTA) had also arranged for a different centre in Jaipur for the students of second shift. The agency also ensured that these candidates were provided with proper transportation to reach the respective centres, said UGC in a statement.
The UGC has further informed that a forensic analysis of the answers submitted by the students will be conducted by NTA. An FIR has also been filed against the miscreants who tried to create a commotion during the examination. Meanwhile, NTA has also devised a committee to look into the cyber security and other factors of the incident.
