University of Southampton announces GREAT Scholarships 2019-India

The UK-based University of Southampton, in collaboration with the British Council and GREAT Britain Campaign, has announced up to three GREAT Scholarships 2019-India for Indian students who want to pursue a postgraduate taught (Masters) degree programme at the university in the session commencing in September 2019. Each scholarship will cover the full tuition fee for the student for a one year Masters programme. The application deadline is May 8, 2019.

The scholarships are applicable for select postgraduate taught programmes at the University of Southampton: MA Luxury Brand Management, LLM Maritime Law, MSc Actuarial Science, MSc Data Science and MSC Entrepreneurship & Management.

The University of Southampton is among the top 100 universities in the world as per the QS World University Rankings 2019. It is a research-intensive university and a founding member of the prestigious Russell Group, with over 96 percent of its research environment being world-leading and internationally excellent (REF 2014). The university is ranked No.11 in Times Higher Education’s (THE) ‘Golden Age’ Universities 2018 – the top 200 institutions founded as universities between 1945 and 1967. Southampton stands second among the UK universities featured in this list.

Applicants for the GREAT Scholarships 2019-India must be Indian nationals residing in India at the time of application and they must have completed their secondary education in India. They should also hold an unconditional offer letter for the eligible postgraduate taught programme at the university starting in September 2019. While the scholarship covers the full tuition fee for a one year Masters programme, other costs such as travel and living expenses are not covered under the scholarship.

The candidates will be required to complete the scholarship expression of interest form by May 8, 2019. The university will then nominate three candidates to the British Council and invite them to complete the application process by May 31, 2019. The applications for the nominated candidates will be reviewed by a select panel based on set parameters and they will be notified of the outcome of their applications in July 2019.
