The Uttar Pradesh state education department issued a notification regarding the application for children belonging to the economically weaker section (EWS) in enrolling at recognised unaided private schools for the 2020-21 session. The application process under Section 12.1.c of the Right to Education (RTE) Act will begin from March 2 in three phases in the state. Private schools will have to register online by February 25.
Director general of education, Vijay Kiran Anand directed all basic shiksha adhikari (BSAs) to see that all recognised private schools in urban areas are required to register their details on web portal: http://rte25.upsdc.gov.in
The registrations in all 75 districts will begin from February 14 and continue till February 25. Meanwhile, the application process will remain offline for rural areas.
Under Section 12.1.c of the RTE Act, children belonging to EWS and disadvantaged groups SC/ST/disabled/orphan), within the age group of three to six are eligible to apply and are required to be admitted in recognised unaided private schools to the extent of 25 percent of the total capacity of their entry-level classes, either pre-primary or class I, as per order.
Till 2014, the admission scenario had only 54 admissions across the state. But it improved later with 1, 42, 150 admissions by 2019. The reason being an awareness drive carried out by RTE activists.
In order to apply, an address proof, income certificate or caste certificate will be required.
