Uttarakhand will be reopening schools in the state from November 2 for students of classes 10 and 12. Parental consent is mandatory for attendance. The state government has given the permission only for the board going classes. Further, SOPs and guidelines that are required to be maintained at the schools have been released. As many as 3791 senior secondary schools will reopen in the state from the mentioned date.
The Education minister said that students who do not have parental consent would not be allowed to attend the classes. Over the next 2 to 3 weeks, the focus would be on bringing students back to the classroom teaching mode.
Education Minister Arvind Pandey, said, “The government has taken into account all aspects of COVID-19 precautions in the SOP issued for opening the school. From November 2, classes for 10th and 12th standards will start, but the students will be allowed to enter the schools only after written permission from parents.”
“Students will gradually be brought into the mainstream after classes resume. Over the next two-three weeks, online studies and other educational activities will be reviewed. Students will get used to school life again,” said R Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary, Education Department.
The mode of classroom teaching followed earlier cannot be the norm. Hence, required guidelines released have been released on the teaching format that would be followed. Students would be taught in the school premises but no homework shall be given. The focus will be on revision work and online classes would continue.
