Ved Lahoti from the Delhi zone has topped the IIT entrance exam JEE-Advanced, scoring 355 out of 360 marks, the highest ever, officials announced on Sunday. The previous highest was 352 in 2022.
IIT Madras, which conducted JEE-Advanced this year, reported that Dwija Dharmeshkumar Patel from the IIT Bombay zone is the top female candidate with 332 marks, ranking seventh nationally.
Among the top 10 rankers, four are from IIT Madras. Aditya from the Delhi zone secured the second rank, followed by Bhogalpalli Sandesh from the Madras zone in third place. Other top rankers include Rhythm Kedia (IIT Roorkee zone), Putti Kushal Kumar (IIT Madras), Rajdeep Mishra (IIT Bombay zone), Koduri Tejeswar (IIT Madras zone), Dhruvi Hemant Doshi (IIT Bombay zone), and Alladabona SSDB Sidhvik Suhas (IIT Madras zone).
The IIT Madras zone had the most qualifiers, followed by the IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay zones. Among the top 500 candidates, 145 are from IIT Madras, 136 from IIT Bombay, and 122 from IIT Delhi.
Additionally, seven foreign candidates and 179 Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) passed the exam. A senior IIT Madras official explained that aggregate marks are calculated from Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry scores, and candidates must meet both subject-wise and overall qualifying marks to be included in the rank list.
A total of 1,80,200 candidates appeared in both papers of JEE-Advanced, with 48,248, including 7,964 females, qualifying. JEE-Main, the admission test for engineering colleges across India, is the qualifying exam for JEE-Advanced, which was conducted on May 26. The Joint Seat Allocation (JoSAA) counseling will begin on Monday.
