Vedam School of Technology, in collaboration with Ajeenkya DY Patil University (ADYPU), welcomed its founding cohort, the Class of 2025–29, with a five-day orientation week (11–15 August) designed to set the foundation for an AI-first, project-driven learning culture.
The inaugural ceremony featured ADYPU leaders including vice chancellor Dr Rakesh Kumar Jain, Dean of academics Dr Sunil Ingole, Registrar Dr Sudhakar Shinde, and Vedam co-founder Piyush Nangru, who outlined the institution’s vision to foster innovators rather than conventional graduates. “You won’t just study technology, you will build, pitch, and launch real-world solutions from day one,” Nangru affirmed.
Industry experts enriched the week’s programme: Microsoft’s VP of Applied Sciences, Mayur Datar, spoke on the ‘AI Renaissance’; Unstop founder Ankit Aggarwal emphasised skills over résumés; MakeMyTrip’s Anurag Gaggar urged students to see themselves as the “ultimate product”; while Alteria Capital’s Ankit Agarwal and Shine.com CTO Prabhat Pankaj highlighted resilience and conviction.
A creator panel, Beyond the Algorithm, featuring professionals from Microsoft, Bain & Co, and EY, discussed entrepreneurship and personal branding. Practical mentorship came from Basant Rawat (Angel One) and Ekta Shah (MSCI), who guided students on a 30-day roadmap for building and showcasing projects. Subhesh Kumar, Head of Academic Delivery, introduced Vedam’s Innovation Labs and student clubs as hubs for hands-on learning.
With a selective intake of high achievers, including JEE Main top percentile scorers, the founding batch also showcased creativity in events such as Pitch Please and Fresher’s Night. Parents engaged through campus tours and interactive sessions, praising Vedam’s balance of “wisdom, tradition, and forward-looking” pedagogy.
Reflecting on the institute’s mission, Nangru said: “Vedam is building more than a college — we are creating a community where conviction, collaboration, and curiosity define the path to progress.”
For its first cohort, Orientation Week marked not only the start of their academic journey, but the beginning of a movement where education translates into real-world innovation.
