Vidya Niketan School is a coeducational, secular, wholly Indian school run by the Kasturba Education Trust and affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), New Delhi. It is a school with global reach, yet with its roots embedded in Indian culture and ethos. The school has “Character Building and Man-Making” as its mission and its motto is “Discipline and Excellence”.
According to a school spokesperson, “Vidya Niketan School is a preparation for life……an avenue to give each child a strong foundation to build on. The school believes in ‘Cooperation over Competition’ a quality we try to build in every student who enters the portals of the institution.” The school has a teacher-pupil ratio of 1:12. All teachers are trained graduates or postgraduates and well versed with the use of technology in the classroom. They are also trained in the use of effective and contemporary teaching methodologies.
VNS has a lush green environmental and friendly campus of six and half acres, easily accessible from the city. There are separate buildings for the junior and senior sections with independent facilities for each. Some of the facilities within the campus are classrooms with promethean white boards, libraries, computer labs, science and cookery labs, math lab, audio visual room, remedial room, yoga hall, playground, cricket pitch, football field, basketball courts, school bus facility, etc.
The school is divided into three sections: primary school (std I-IV), middle School (std V- VII) and high School (std VIII-X).
Vidya Niketan School follows the ICSE Syllabus till class X and the ISC syllabus for class XI and XII. The ISC section offers the science and commerce streams.
The school has a Section for Alternative Studies (SAS) which caters to the varied learning abilities of 13- to 15-year-old students who opt for an alternative curriculum to complete their secondary schooling.
Vidya Niketan School constantly tries to expose teachers to new techniques in the teaching-learning process. It helps in making the subjects interesting. It also helps in understanding the difference between true-learning and rote-learning.
Teaching methodologies employed include mind-mapping, group work, self-learning and self-evaluation of answer papers post exams to set realistic goals for the next examination.

Vidya Niketan School is ranked among the top 20 co-ed day schools in India by the EducationWorld India School Rankings 2021-22.
It was ranked second by Time Education Excellence in 2020. The school was also declared as the second-best school in the city of Bangalore and first in the North zone by Times School survey edition in 2019.
The school also hosts, participates and wins in a number of events including MUN’s, Olympiads, chess and debate competitions.
