Vidya Integrated Development for Youth and Adults (VIDYA India), one of India’s most enduring NGOs, is celebrating four decades of empowering communities through education, skill development, and social transformation. Since its inception in 1985, the organisation has directly benefitted over 8 lakh children, youth, and women, and indirectly impacted another 24 lakh lives through more than 300 projects nationwide.
Operating with the motto “Educate. Empower. Transform.”, VIDYA runs schools, skill and livelihood programmes, digital literacy initiatives, and community partnerships across 14 cities including Delhi, Gurugram, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, and Goa.
Founded by educationist and social entrepreneur Ms. Rashmi Misra, VIDYA began as a small initiative for five children at her IIT Delhi residence and has since evolved into a nationally recognised movement fostering inclusive growth and opportunity.
As VIDYA India marks its 40th anniversary, VIDYA South Zone celebrates 15 years of impactful service. Established in 2010 with just 150 beneficiaries, the South Zone has now reached over 5 lakh lives (2 lakh direct and 3 lakh indirect beneficiaries) through integrated education and empowerment programmes.
The 15th Year Celebrations will take place on Sunday, 23 November 2025, at Town Hall, Bangalore, from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm, bringing together alumni, donors, partners, volunteers, and community members for an evening of stories, reflections, and cultural showcases.
With three Centres of Excellence — two in Bangalore and one in Chennai — and over 146 ongoing projects supported by 75+ institutional collaborations, VIDYA South Zone continues to drive transformative impact with a 125-member team, half of whom are VIDYA alumni.
Looking ahead, VIDYA envisions nurturing future-ready generations equipped with STEM and STEAM learning, AI and digital literacy, mental well-being, youth entrepreneurship, and 21st-century skills — ensuring that learning leads to livelihood, leadership, and lasting change.
