New Delhi, January 5. The Union ministry of education has started registrations for its Vidyanjali Higher Education Volunteer Programme (VHEVP). The programme intends to build a robust team of volunteers to positively impact the nation’s higher education system by contributing with academic, training, and infrastructure support.

To participate in this programme, volunteers and institutions can sign up at www.vidyanjali-he.education.gov.in. Volunteers can interact with higher education institutes directly and contribute to the institution’s academic services and activities with relevant knowledge and skillsets. Volunteers can also aid institutions by donating assets and equipment. VHEVP’s objective is to support students, faculties, and institutions of higher education through volunteerism by community, private and public sector NGOs, NRIs, and PIOs.

“This is an important initiative of the ministry that will strengthen the country’s higher education system. Almost 40 million students are in higher education and our foremost task is to benefit them. India has a huge youth population and we want to convert this into a strong human resource for the country. We need to integrate every available resource in the country and pool them together to make this programme a success” says Prof. M.P. Poonia, vice chairman of AICTE.
