The school was founded in 1961 by Shanta Rameshwar Rao and Vijitha Bhoopal with six children and nine teachers and today boasts an enrollment of 550 students and faculty strength of 45.
The school campus sprawls over five acres facilitating a world class infrastructure. The school maintains a teacher-student ratio of 1:15 to enable individual attention to each child.
The five-acre school campus offers an ideal atmosphere for academic and extracurricular pursuits of the students. The campus hosts 28 spacious classrooms. It believes strongly in human interactions and does not depend on ICT learning and other electronic gadgets for imparting education.
The school offers separate, well equipped laboratories for physics, chemistry, home science and biology and a math lab/puzzle lab, besides lab rooms for the hands-on science skills workshops.
The well stocked school library features an exhaustive collection of books and subscriptions to almost all daily newspapers, weekly/monthly journals and magazines. The school offers play fields for sports activities such as volleyball and basketball and does not encourage students to use computer, internet or Wi-Fi, these being restricted to office use only.
The school canteen serves healthy, nutritious vegetarian food. Each floor of the school building offers first aid facility and all teachers are trained in providing first aid treatment to their students during emergencies.
Vidyaranya High School is affiliated with CISCE and offers classes from kindergarten to class X. The school discourages ‘competition that aims only at scoring higher grades than your peers’ and rather lays emphasis on “learning with a mind free of fear”.
Extracurricular: The school promotes extracurricular activities such as drama, craftwork and group singing, all of which are considered important part of the school culture. The school also organizes hands-on science skills workshops and educational trips for its students.
