Vissanji Academy is an English medium co-educational day school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). The founders recognized the importance of educating the girl child in a newly independent India when the female literacy rate was 8.9 percent and ‘women empowerment’ and ‘gender equality’ were terms unheard of; thus Lady Vissanji Girls Academy was born in 1963. From a modest beginning it has traversed five decades and emerged as a co-educational institution- Lady Ratanbai & Sir Mathuradas Vissanji Academy. For classes I to VII, a comprehensive and continuous system of evaluation (CEE) covering the formative and summative evaluation as prescribed by the Department of Education is followed. For classes VIII to X, cluster tests and internal assessments are conducted as per the ICSE board requirements. Summative assessments are held at the end of each term.
As per council’s rules, it is mandatory for all students to pass in English. Health and fitness (PE) and games are an integral part of the curriculum and students will not be excused without a valid reason. Summative assessments once missed will not be re-examined.

For registering for admissions, interested applicants/parents must download the medical form from the website and then proceed to fill the online request form. Self-attested scanned copies of the required documents must be kept ready at the time of registration.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further formalities latest within 15 working days from the date of submission of request form and all documents. Incomplete request forms will not be considered. Informal interaction for shortlisted candidates will be conducted in order to understand the child’s school readiness, development milestones and special needs, if any. The management of the school reserves all rights of admission or rejection and is not bound to give reasons for admission or rejection of any particular candidate.
Admission fees are only required to be paid by new entrants of classes I to V. The school will be at liberty to strike off names of students from its rolls who are overdue for more than 45 days.
