Volvo Group collaborates with VIT to shape future auto engineers

Volvo Group India Pvt. Ltd. has recently forged a partnership with the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) to enhance automotive education across India. As part of this collaboration, a specialized credit course will be integrated into VIT’s MTech program, specifically tailored to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the latest automotive industry technologies. The formal signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) took place during a ceremony attended by key representatives from both Volvo Group India and VIT, including Kamal Bali, President and Managing Director of Volvo Group India, Dr. T. Jayabarathi (Registrar), Dr. G. Viswanathan (Chancellor), and Dr. T.P. Ranjith, Head of Talent Acquisition India.

The primary objective of this partnership is to equip students with practical skills and knowledge that are directly applicable to the automotive industry. Through a combination of theoretical coursework and hands-on training, students will gain insights into industry trends, best practices, and real-world challenges. Additionally, the collaboration offers the unique opportunity for joint classes, where Volvo’s technical experts will engage with VIT’s faculty to facilitate knowledge exchange and skills development.

Kamal Bali, President & MD of Volvo Group India, emphasized the significance of collaboration between industry and academia in driving innovation and excellence within the automotive sector. He highlighted the transformative nature of emerging technologies and stressed the need for a skilled workforce capable of meeting the evolving demands of the industry. Furthermore, students enrolled in the program will have the opportunity to intern at Volvo, providing them with valuable real-world experience and potential pathways to post-graduate engineering traineeships within the organization.
