Eight students of a top-ranked IB school in Mumbai were suspended, aged 13-14 years for making violent and sexually explicit remarks on WhatsApp regarding their female classmates. The issue came to light when parents of two girls saw the conversation and reported it to the school authorities. Some of the girls had stopped attending school noting they were too scared.
The chat runs over for many pages and includes words like ‘rape’ and ‘gangbang’. They also body-shamed their female classmates and used homophobic languages for them. They also discuss their preferences from their female classmates for one night. But it was noted that the conversation mostly revolved around two girls of the class.
The group also often uses the word ‘thrash’ to refer to girls and parts of the chat read, “I’ll destroy that little bi**h” and “should I go full on and kill her existence.” The word ‘rape’ has also been used multiple times in the conversation like “He gets raped by his dad” and “Didn’t rape (xxx).” They used terms such as ‘gay’ and ‘lesbian’ as insults.
The chats were posted by one of the parents on a parents’ WhatsApp group at first and later leaked online.
