The National Medical Commission (NMC) has achieved the esteemed recognition of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) for a decade, marking a significant milestone in Indian medical education. This recognition extends to all 706 existing medical colleges, and any new colleges established over the next ten years will automatically gain WFME accreditation. WFME is a global organization dedicated to enhancing medical education quality worldwide.
Dr. Yogender Malik, a member of the Ethics and Medical Registration Board at NMC, highlighted this recognition as a testament to NMC’s unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards in medical education and accreditation. He emphasized that WFME’s recognition validates the quality of medical education in India, meeting international gold standards. This accolade not only benefits Indian students by providing them global career opportunities but also makes India an appealing destination for international students due to its globally recognized educational standards.
In acknowledgment of this achievement, the NMC will receive an official award letter and a recognition certificate.
