The fashion collection titled “It Was Bound to Happen” took center stage at the “APKALBOS 2023 or GOSSIP 20023” fashion show in Kaunas, Lithuania, and marked a significant milestone in the creative journey of Ishan Batra. Ishan Batra’s journey began when he was selected for a transformative opportunity – the Semester Exchange Program at Kaunas College, Lithuania, under an ERASMUS mobility grant. This experience allowed him to step out of his comfort zone, embrace a new culture, and foster his creative evolution. It also provided him with the unique opportunity to travel to Paris and witness the grandeur of Paris Fashion Week, gaining invaluable insights into the world of high fashion.
During his time in Lithuania, Ishan dedicated himself to meticulous research, exploring the themes of fantasy and fetish, which became the cornerstone of his collection. The collection seamlessly blended elements of fantasy and fetish with a sustainable design approach, challenging societal norms and redefining notions of sensuality and empowerment.
Ishan’s commitment to sustainability is evident in his zero-waste cutting patterns, ensuring that leather cutouts are incorporated back into the ensembles or accessories with no wastage. This collection demonstrates that fashion can be opulent and eco-conscious, addressing environmental and ethical concerns in design.
The international exposure provided by the university opened doors to a new chapter in Ishan’s career. His collection earned him offers to design for European brands and collaborate with premium Lithuanian brands.
