Zara Dar, who left PhD for OnlyFans, now uploads STEM lectures on Pornhub

January 13, 2025

Zara Dar, the YouTuber who made headlines for quitting her PhD program to join OnlyFans, has now revealed an unexpected twist in her content creation journey. She’s been sharing her STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) videos not only on YouTube but also on adult video platforms, including Pornhub.

In a recent social media post, Ms. Dar explained that while YouTube offers higher viewership, Pornhub provides significantly more revenue per 1 million views. According to Dar, Pornhub pays $1,000 (Rs 86,400) for every million views, while YouTube only pays $340 (Rs 29,376) for the same number of views. She shared screenshots of her video titled “What is a Neural Network?” on both platforms, highlighting the stark difference in earnings.

The post quickly went viral, with many social media users expressing surprise that educational videos could find an audience on a site traditionally associated with adult content. One user commented, “Today I learned,” while another asked, “Wait, why would anyone watch machine learning videos on PornHub or OnlyFans?”

In another update, Ms. Dar revealed that her post about the revenue comparison led to her being banned from LinkedIn. She stated that her account was blocked without warning after her post gained attention, with many “Top Voices” reaching out to her for discussion.

Dar made waves last month when she announced her decision to leave her PhD to pursue a career on OnlyFans. In a YouTube video titled “PhD Dropout to OnlyFans Model,” she explained that although it was a tough decision, it was also a career gamble, offering her the opportunity to live a life outside the constraints of academia and corporate offices.
