RV University, Bengaluru, conferred degrees on 259 students across six streams at its 3rd annual convocation on Saturday. Nine graduates were recognised with awards for exceptional academic performance.
The ceremony was graced by Nobel Peace Laureate and child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi, who urged the graduating batch to lead with courage and compassion. “You are not the leaders of tomorrow; you are the leaders of today,” he said, adding that compassion is “a powerful force for solving problems” and calling on students to use their education to build a better world.
The event was attended by RV University chancellor Dr (h.c.) A.V.S. Murthy, RSST president Dr M.P. Shyam, pro chancellor D.P. Nagaraj, vice chancellor Prof. (Dr) Dwarika Prasad Uniyal, registrar Dr Sahana D. Gowda, pro vice chancellor Prof. (Dr) Anuradha Chatterjee and members of the governing and academic councils.

Degrees were awarded across the university’s six schools: Liberal Arts & Sciences, Design & Innovation, Business, Economics & Public Policy, Computer Science & Engineering, and Law.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Murthy said the graduates embodied RVU’s vision of building a better world. Prof. Uniyal noted that in just four years, the university had exceeded its decade-long strategic targets, growing from three schools to nine, from 150 to over 6,000 students, and expanding its programmes and research collaborations significantly. He also announced plans for a new 42-acre campus at Nanjangud, near Mysuru, featuring advanced academic, research and sports facilities.
This year’s academic excellence awardees included Varuni Krishna (BA) and Labdhishree Tater (BSc) from Liberal Arts & Sciences; Sharvani K.B. (MDes) and Piya Sarah Kurian (BDes) from Design & Innovation; Beneath B. Mathew (BBA) and Deekshith A.S. (BCom) from Business; K. Monika (MA Economics) and Nakshatra Lakshmanan (BA Economics) from Economics & Public Policy; and Krithika Chandrashekara from Law.
The convocation underlined RV University’s mission to go beyond education, equipping students with the skills, values and vision to make a tangible difference in society.
