In a move towards democratizing AI education, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has announced the second phase of its flagship initiative, ‘AI for All’, expanding access to free Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses for school teachers from Kindergarten to Class XII across India.
The last date to register for all six courses is October 10, 2025.
Offered through the SWAYAM Plus platform in collaboration with the IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, this initiative aims to equip K-12 educators with foundational AI knowledge and practical tools to enhance teaching, assessment, and student engagement.
These online courses range from 25 to 45 hours in duration and are available free of cost. Participants seeking certification can opt for a nominal-fee proctored examination at designated centers across the country.
Speaking at the launch event held on 8th September 2025 at the IIT Madras campus, Prof V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras said, “Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the future of learning, and K-12 teachers play a vital role in bringing this change into classrooms. By equipping them with AI skills, we are not only strengthening education but also contributing to nation-building.”
Prof R Sarathi, Dean (Planning) and SWAYAM Plus Coordinator, emphasized the accessibility of the program, added, “No prior experience in AI or coding is required. Basic digital literacy and a willingness to learn are sufficient. These courses are aligned with the National Credit Framework (NCrF), are employability-focused, and feature hands-on activities, real datasets, and case study-based learning.”

This course will equip teachers and aspiring teachers with essential AI knowledge and practical tools to enhance teaching, assessment, and student engagement. Participants will explore AI-driven pedagogical strategies and apply hands-on techniques for productivity and learner-centered approaches.
