The recruitment process for the posts of special teachers at the group resource centres of all the Zilla Parishads in Maharashtra is underway.
Vacancies in both the sports and disabled students categories are being filled in a phased manner, Maharashtra’s education minister Dadaji Bhuse said during the Question Hour in the Legislative Council yesterday.
Member Niranjan Davkhare raised a question in this regard; members Sanjay Kenekar, Dnyaneshwar Mhatre, Kishore Darade Jagannath Abhyankar, Amit Gorkhe raised sub-questions.
Minister Bhuse said that according to the National Education Policy 2020, one post each in the cadre of Special Teacher (Sports) and Special Teacher (of Divyang Students) has been sanctioned at 4,860 group resource centres in the state.
Of these 4860 posts, 2984 posts have been filled from candidates who have been qualified by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and are working on contract basis. The process to fill the remaining posts is currently underway, Bhuse said, adding that the government is examining the possibility of employing D.P.Ed. and D.Ed. qualified candidates, along with sportspersons and ex-servicemen.
