Heritage Law College has announced that its students Meghnila Chakraborty and Bristee Biswas (B.A. LL.B., Batch of 2027) have won the Best Negotiating Pair Award at the 4th International Mediation Competition hosted by Xavier Law School, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata.
The three-day competition, held from 26 to 28 March 2026, featured 32 teams, including participants from National Law Universities across India. The Heritage Law College team progressed to the final round, where they competed against a team from Mumbai.
This was the first mediation competition for both students.
The Best Negotiating Pair Award carries a cash prize of ₹1.5 lakh, along with the XMC Champions Cup, gold medals, certificates of excellence, internship opportunities at Tier-1 firms such as Khaitan & Co. and Fox & Mandal, and access to sponsored professional courses and publications.
Mr Pradip Agarwal, CEO of Heritage Group of Institutions, said the achievement reflects the capability of students to compete at the national level. Prof. S.S. Chatterji, Director of Heritage Law College, said the result reinforces the institution’s focus on experiential legal education and advocacy training.
Established in 2015 by the Kalyan Bharti Trust, Heritage Law College offers a five-year integrated law programme affiliated to the University of Calcutta and approved by the Bar Council of India.
