The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will close registrations today, March 31, for its Young Scientist Programme (YUVIKA) 2026, a fully funded initiative for school students.
YUVIKA is aimed at promoting interest in space science among students and offers a two-week residential programme covering fundamentals of space technology, applications and research.
The programme is open to students studying in Class 9 as of January 1, 2026, in recognised schools across India. Selection is based on merit, with weightage given to Class 8 academic performance and participation in activities such as science fairs, Olympiads, sports, and national programmes including NCC and Scouts. Additional weightage is provided to students from rural schools.
According to the schedule, the first selection list will be released on April 13, followed by a confirmation list on April 20. The programme will be conducted from May 11 to May 22 at various ISRO centres.
Selected students will receive free accommodation, meals, study materials and access to training resources. Travel expenses will also be reimbursed, typically covering AC-II tier train fare or equivalent bus fare.
During the programme, participants will attend sessions by scientists, take part in practical activities and visit laboratories to gain exposure to space research and applications.
