Months after the faux pas involving details of robots displayed at the India AI Impact Summit held in New Delhi, Galgotias University has issued a statement stating that they have designed a framework to streamline external and internal communications.
The controversy began when a university representative showcased a robotic dog named “Orion” at the summit and claimed or implied it was developed by the university’s AI centre. Soon after, videos went viral and tech observers identified the robot as a commercially available Chinese product (Unitree Go2), not an in-house innovation. This led to widespread criticism, with authorities reportedly asking the university to vacate its exhibition stall and the issue gaining national attention.
In the aftermath, the university had issued clarifications and an apology, attributing the incident to miscommunication or an “ill-informed” staff member, while maintaining that it never officially claimed ownership of the technology. The episode sparked debate about academic credibility, transparency, and the pressure to showcase innovation, and became a widely discussed example of misinformation in education-tech spaces.
Following this, on April 7, Galgotias University in an official communication said they had “recalibrated a comprehensive framework to further streamline internal and external communication across the university community”.
They said that the framework, released by Vice Chancellor K Mallikharjuna Babu is designed to support clarity in information flow, strengthen alignment across academic and administrative units, and ensure that institutional communication remains structured and reliable across platforms.
“With this initiative, Galgotias University is reinforcing its commitment to maintaining clarity and coherence in how information is shared within the campus and represented externally,” they said.
Sessions such as participation in high profile external events, media engagement protocols, public speaking, presentation skills, interpersonal communication and responsible participation across institutional and digital platforms have also been introduced.
Dr Babu said, “Galgotias University is committed to making a strong communication framework to ensure accurate, fact-checked, ethical and clear communication workflows both within the institution and externally as well.”
