The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has rejected a media report alleging glitches and delays in the evaluation of Class 12 answer scripts under its On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, stating that the process is proceeding as scheduled.
Speaking to Press Trust of India (PTI), Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj said the evaluation process is functioning without issues and is on track. He described the claims in the report as “far away from facts” and said the system is performing better than previous methods.
Bhardwaj said evaluators have shared positive feedback on the OSM system and that the board is satisfied with its implementation. He added that the evaluation process is progressing according to schedule.
On the timeline for results, he said Class 12 results are expected to be declared in the third week of May, as previously indicated.
CBSE introduced the OSM system for the evaluation of Class 12 answer scripts from the 2026 board examinations. The examinations began on 17 February. In a circular issued to affiliated schools earlier, the board said the system aims to improve efficiency, transparency and accuracy in assessment.
CBSE conducts Class 10 and Class 12 examinations annually across India and in 26 countries, covering nearly 4.6 million students.
