Sigma University has been recognised at the Pride of Gujarat Awards 2026, organised by Divya Bhaskar, for its approach to industry-oriented education. The award for “Most Prominent Private University in Central Gujarat” was received by Dr. Harsh Shah and Dr. Shreya Shah from Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
The recognition reflects a broader shift in higher education, where institutions are assessed on practical exposure, employability and career readiness alongside academic outcomes.
The university integrates practical learning across disciplines. Hotel management students receive early exposure to operational environments, while physiotherapy students train in clinical settings. Science programmes are supported through a collaboration with Virohan, linking laboratory learning with healthcare applications. Law students participate in moot courts and legal practice exercises, and design students gain industry exposure through an association with Freebird Animation.
Entrepreneurship is supported through SEDIC, the university’s incubation platform, which has facilitated funding for over 100 startups in the past three years and contributed to job creation. Initiatives such as NOVA 2.0 have brought together founders, industry experts and ecosystem partners, with participation from startups and investors.
Funding support has been secured through schemes including the Startup Gujarat Grant Scheme, the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme and other public and CSR-backed programmes.
As higher education priorities evolve, the university’s recognition highlights a growing emphasis on aligning academic programmes with industry requirements and real-world experience.
