UPES, Hewlett Packard Enterprise launch AI-driven Centre of Excellence

UPES has partnered with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to launch the HPE Networking AI-Driven Centre of Excellence (CoE) at its Dehradun campus. The initiative aims to equip students with skills in AI-driven networking, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity and enterprise technologies through industry-led training and experiential learning.

The Centre will integrate AI-focused learning into the curriculum through faculty development programmes, hands-on laboratory sessions, project-based learning, HPE-led bootcamps, certification pathways and research opportunities. Students will also have access to HPE Networking Associate and Specialist training, with potential internship and recruitment opportunities across HPE, its partners and customers.

According to a NASSCOM-Deloitte report cited by the university, India will require more than 1.25 million AI professionals by 2027, with an estimated shortfall of over 600,000 skilled workers. The Centre has been established to help address the growing demand for talent in AI, enterprise networking, cloud and cybersecurity.

The inauguration was attended by HPE’s global leadership, including Shishir Singh, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Network Products & Advanced Technology; M. Muthukumar, Vice President – Platform Software Engineering and Managing Director, HPE Networking India; Maria Delting, Human Resource Leader – HPE Networking; Shalini Dutta, Head of Global Talent Acquisition; Beth Kremer, Senior Manager – University Recruitment & Programs and TA Operations; Samuel Daniel, India Leader – University Relations & Strategy; and Archana Yadav, Senior Global Program Manager, HPE Academic Alliance.

The programme included a leadership roundtable on industry-academia collaboration, the inauguration of the Centre, a student session on career readiness led by Shishir Singh, and a visit to the Bajaj Engineering Skills Training (BEST) Centre.

Shishir Singh said the partnership would provide students with practical exposure to AI, networking, cloud and cybersecurity technologies while strengthening industry-academia collaboration. Dr Abhishek Sinha, Pro Vice Chancellor – Student Success, UPES, said the initiative aligns with the university’s AI-first strategy by providing students with access to advanced technologies and experiential learning.

The HPE partnership adds to UPES’ existing collaborations with organisations including OpenAI, Google Cloud, Salesforce and Harvard Business Impact as part of its AI-focused academic initiatives.
