Dignity Education Vision International (DEVI) Sansthan marked its listing on the BSE Social Stock Exchange with a bell-ringing ceremony in Mumbai. Representatives from education, philanthropy, corporate social responsibility and finance attended the event.
The non-profit organisation, which works on foundational literacy and numeracy, said the listing would support fundraising, strengthen governance and help expand its programmes.
“The listing on the Social Stock Exchange brings greater discipline, transparency and rigour to the way social organisations operate and report their impact,” said Arijit Basu, chairman, IndusInd Bank.
Nixon Joseph, group executive director, DEVI Sansthan, said the exchange could help non-profits strengthen accountability and demonstrate their impact beyond providing a fundraising platform.
Founder Sunita Gandhi said the listing would help the organisation take its Accelerated Learning for All (ALfA) methodology to more children, schools and communities. The programme focuses on reading, writing and mathematics through collaborative learning and aligns with the objectives of the government’s NIPUN Bharat Mission.
Swapan Dhar, managing director, SBI Foundation, highlighted the foundation’s partnership with DEVI Sansthan on a foundational literacy and numeracy programme in Ranchi.
Established in 1992, DEVI Sansthan said its programmes have reached more than 19,000 schools and over 8 lakh children. The organisation plans to use the listing to build partnerships and expand its work to address foundational learning gaps.
