Revised NCERT textbooks for classes 10 to 12 are being prepared in “mission mode” in line with the new National Curriculum Framework (NCF), Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Tuesday.

Speaking at the 66th Foundation Day of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), Joshi said new textbooks for classes 1 to 9 under the NCF have already been released.

“The new textbooks for classes 1 to 9 are already out and the textbooks for classes 10 to 12 are being prepared in mission mode,” he said.

Joshi also highlighted the growing use of artificial intelligence among younger age groups and said school curricula and textbooks must evolve accordingly.

“Our textbooks and curricula must evolve with these changes and help our young learners to understand, use and engage with AI confidently and responsibly,” he said.

Referring to the National Education Policy (NEP), Joshi said it addresses emerging educational challenges and stressed the need to make parents more aware so they can guide and monitor children’s use of technology.

The minister also said India’s large youth population could become an important global human resource as several countries face ageing populations. He added that strengthening India’s human capital would be central to the Viksit Bharat mission.
