The Garodia International Centre for Learning (GICLM), Mumbai, hosted its annual Global University Fair on 7 August 2026, bringing together representatives from more than 100 leading universities and higher education institutions worldwide. With participation from institutions in the US, UK, Canada, India, Australia, Switzerland, France, Ireland, Italy, Germany and other countries, the event provided students with an enriching platform to explore global higher education opportunities.

Designed for students and parents from Grades 8–12, the fair facilitated meaningful, first-hand interactions with university representatives. Students learned about undergraduate programmes, admission requirements, scholarships, internships, campus experiences and career pathways. These conversations offered greater clarity about the academic options available and helped students begin thinking more strategically about their futures.

Bringing the world of higher education to students

Selecting a university is an important milestone in a student’s academic journey, and the Global University Fair aimed to make the process more accessible and informed. Rather than relying solely on online research, students had the opportunity to engage directly with university representatives, ask questions and understand what different institutions offer.

The event was supported by the school’s leadership team, including the Head of School, IBDP Coordinator and IBDP counsellors. Their continued guidance plays an important role in creating meaningful university guidance opportunities for GICLM students and encouraging them to explore pathways aligned with their interests, strengths and aspirations.

Reflecting on the vision behind the event, Nishant Garodia, Managing Director of Garodia Education, said, “The IBDP encourages students to think beyond boundaries, and their university journey should be no different. By bringing universities from across the world to our campus, we are creating a space where students can explore new possibilities, engage with different perspectives and envision the many pathways open to them.”

India’s new gateway to global higher education

One of the highlights of the fair was a special session titled ‘India’s New Gateway to Global Higher Education’. It explored the growing presence of new-age Indian universities and international university campuses in India, highlighting opportunities for students seeking a globally oriented education while remaining closer to home.

The session featured senior outreach managers from the University of Aberdeen’s Mumbai campus and Eruditus, along with GICLM’s university guidance counsellor. The discussion introduced students and parents to emerging institutions and international campuses, including the University of Bristol Mumbai Campus, University of Aberdeen Mumbai, University of Liverpool Bangalore, University of York Mumbai, Illinois Tech Mumbai and Victoria University Delhi NCR.

The discussion highlighted opportunities offered by internationally recognised programmes delivered in India. Students gained insights into global curricula, industry exposure, international mobility and emerging career opportunities, helping them understand how global education is evolving within India’s higher education landscape.

Exploring the future of liberal arts education

Another engaging session focused on the changing landscape of liberal arts education. Titled ‘The Future of Learning: Liberal Education and Holistic Development’, the session was led by FLAME University’s Senior Admissions Outreach Manager.

The session introduced students to the philosophy of liberal education and examined the importance of critical thinking, interdisciplinary learning, communication, creativity and developing a broad understanding of the world. It encouraged students to look beyond conventional academic pathways and consider how a multidisciplinary approach to learning could prepare them for an increasingly dynamic and interconnected future.

For students with diverse academic interests, the session offered an opportunity to reflect on the relationships between different disciplines and the skills required beyond the classroom. It reinforced the idea that higher education is not simply about choosing a degree but also about developing the knowledge, adaptability and perspective required to navigate a changing world.

Guiding students towards informed choices

Speaking about the significance of the fair, Ian Davies, Principal of GICLM, said, “Choosing a university is one of the most significant decisions a young person makes. Our University Fair provides IBDP students with the opportunity to engage with institutions from around the world, understand different academic pathways and make informed decisions about a future that reflects both their ambitions and their potential.”

The university interactions and special sessions encouraged students to consider not only where they might study but also how they wanted to learn and the kind of future they aspired to build.

More than a university fair, the event served as a platform for exploration, dialogue and reflection. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, compare institutions and discover possibilities across countries and academic disciplines. The experience encouraged them to approach university planning with greater confidence and curiosity.

The GICLM Global University Fair 2026 marked a meaningful step in helping students move from curiosity to informed decision-making.
