Promoted by the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1916 under the brotherhood of Blessed Edmund Rice, St. Edmund’s School, Laitumkhrah, Shillong is a day school for boys affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. The school offers education from Kindergarten through class X with English as the medium of instruction.
The prime motto of the school is “Facta Non Verba” meaning deeds not words. The school focuses on providing quality education based on ideologies of service to God, humanity and the nation through sincerity, hard work and self discipline. The school ensures that every child obtains basic education, thus preparing them as confident keen learners by offering them high quality holistic education.

The school curriculum includes subjects such as English Literature, English Language, Mathematics, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science/Commerce (Computer compulsory from classes IV-VIII), Second Language (Khasi or Hindi) and Third Language (classes V to VIII)
The school organises ‘Creation Week’ that includes a myriad of activities such as debates, extempore speeches, declamations, dances, spelling bee, skits, dramas, quizzes, individual talent displays such as solo singing, solo musical performance, poetry and physical training classes as part of co-curricular activities. An organisation called SEPPA (St. Edmund’s School, Shillong Past Pupils Association) exists worldwide along with a charitable arm “SEPPA Gives”. The operational Headquarter of SEPPA & its charitable arm is at Guwahati, Assam, India. An annual meet of Seppans and families worldwide is held on the 2nd weekend of February every year. Meets are largely held in North East India with active participation of Seppans all over the world.
