Apeejay School is a co-educational day school founded on December 14, 1975 by Sushma Berlia and managed by the Apeejay Education Society. It is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi and offers classes from nursery to higher secondary.
The school is sited in Sheikh Sarai – I, between Panchsheel Park and Malviya Nagar in South Delhi. It has established an enviable reputation for itself over the years and is the first school in India to have found a place in ‘The Limca Book Of World Records’ for hosting a car rally on its Silver Jubilee celebrations on December 19, 1999.
The school believes in inculcating life skills along with academics in students and emphasizes equally on value-based education. Apeejay School sprawls over an extensive 8-acre campus with a floor area of about 1,20,000 sq. ft. Surrounded by well-maintained green lawns, the school boasts an impressive infrastructure with essential amenities in place.
Apeejay has two well-stocked libraries, five computer labs, and ‘Eureka’, the Computer Aided Learning (CAL) software designed by ‘Designmate’ is introduced from standard V onwards. This software presents subjects in the animated form, making learning easier and enjoyable. The school offers one lab each for the three science streams along with a biotechnology lab, maths lab and geography lab for the seniors. A spacious general science lab is available for the middle section.
Other facility offerings at Apeejay include a fully air-conditioned auditorium that can accommodate around 815 people a swimming pool, a 2.5-acre sports ground for football, hockey, cricket and athletics, a standard size basketball court, 2 badminton courts, a skating rink, 4 table tennis tables and a large volleyball court.
The ‘Science Park’ at Apeejay is another notable feature where 19 working models are on display, including the echo tube, sun dial, DNA model, periscope, Archimedes screw and parabolic reflectors.
Apeejay, Sheikh Sarai, is affiliated with CBSE board, and conducts the All India Secondary and Senior Secondary Examinations (AISSCE) at the end of class XII. It is a member of the ‘National Progressive Schools’ conference. The school places equal emphasis on extra-curricular activities and value education alongside academics to achieve the holistic development of its students. It aims at fostering aptitudes of leadership and sportsmanship aimed at improving the mental health of students.
Extracurricular:
The school encourages and promotes a host of extracurricular activities such as dance, drama, music, quizzes and debates, besides sports. Specialized coaching is also provided to students in sports. The principal, A.P. Sharma was awarded the esteemed ‘National CBSE Teachers Award’ for the year 2011-2012.
The school’s Interact Club won the ‘Best Interact Club Award’ in Delhi – NCR for ‘Social Service and Human Value Inculcation’. It also earned ‘Special Recognition’ by the Rotary Club.
