As the Chandrayaan 3 is set to land on the moon on Wednesday evening, higher education institutes across the country have been asked to organize special screening and assemblies to witness the same.

After 40 days of taking off from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, the Chandrayaan 3’s lander Vikram is expected to make a soft landing. This successful landing moon’s south pole creating history would make India the first country to be able to land here.

Meanwhile, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked higher education institutions to gather students to observe the same.

“As you are aware, India’s pursuit of space exploration reaches a remarkable milestone with the impending Chandrayaan-3 Mission, poised to achieve a landing on Moon. This marks a significant step forward for Indian Science, Engineering, Technology, and Industry. The landing of India’s Chandrayaan-3 is a monumental occasion that will not only fuel curiosity but also spark a passion for exploration within the minds of our youth.

It will generate a profound sense of pride and unity as we collectively celebrate the prowess of Indian science and technology. It will contribute to fostering an environment of scientific inquiry and innovation,” the UGC said.

Meanwhile, the latest update by the Indian Space Research Organisation says that scientists are set to initiate the Automatic Landing Sequence (ALS) and that they were awaiting the arrival of the Lander Module (LM) at the designated point, which is anticipated to happen around 5.44 pm IST.

“Upon receiving the ALS command, the LM activates the throttleable engines for powered descent. The mission operations team will keep confirming the sequential execution of commands,” ISRO tweeted. The landing is scheduled to happen around 6.04 pm.
