Bollywood actors Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor have announced an education-focused initiative to mark prime minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday.
Alia shared a birthday message for the prime minister on social media and revealed that she and Ranbir would contribute to the refurbishment of 20 schools as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan. According to her post, the schools will be selected based on recommendations from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The actor said the initiative was intended to contribute towards creating improved learning environments for children. She described the campaign as an example of collective participation and giving back to society.
The announcement came as several Bollywood personalities posted messages for Modi on his birthday. Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan were among the other film stars who publicly extended their greetings.
The Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan is scheduled to be launched by the BJP in October as part of programmes marking 25 years of Modi’s public service. BJP national president Nitin Nabin had earlier announced that the month-long campaign would begin around October 7.

@alia @ranbir we need people like you to take up such initiatives, but be consistent in your efforts. A one-time initiative is not worth it. Get people who are passionate about this endeavor to take it forward. Best wishes
