Habitat: Tropical regions of Africa, lowland tropical forests of Southeast Asia. They are also found in rainforests, secondary and mangrove forests

Other facts

• Chevrotains aka mouse deer, are small even-toed undgulates. Males have small curved tusks protruding downward out of the mouth from the upper jaw.
• They vary by weight, are shy, solitary, and active at night.
• They stand about 30 cm (12 inches) tall at the shoulder and usually walk on the hoof tips of their slender legs.
• Chevrotain fangs are fiercer than Dracula’s. Dipping themselves in water acts as best defence for them.
