The Republic Day tableau of the Department of School Education and Literacy traced India’s knowledge traditions and their evolution under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, presenting school education as central to the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The tableau’s narrative moved from ancient learning to contemporary classrooms, framed by the gateway of a PM SHRI School. At the front, an idol of Aryabhata was shown with children holding symbols of zero and the globe, reflecting India’s contributions to global knowledge and their transmission to future generations.
Elements representing NEP 2020 highlighted confidence, opportunity and self-reliance. Visuals included children using virtual reality devices, a display of ‘Jaadui Pitara’ to depict foundational, play-based and mother-tongue learning, and scenes from PM SHRI Schools emphasising inclusion, sustainability and skill education.
The central section depicted the integration of martial arts, performing arts and sports, alongside a robotic hand symbolising the link between traditional learning tools and modern technology. The tableau concluded with a Viksit Bharat 2047 structure featuring smart classrooms, tinkering labs and innovation hubs.
Icons of books, gears and circuits portrayed PM SHRI Schools as vehicles for implementing NEP 2020, aimed at preparing students across regions and backgrounds for future roles.
