In this episode of Edu Leader speaks by EducationWorld, Harish Sanduja, Director of Schools and Head of IT at the Jaipuria Group of Educational Institutions, spoke to Reshma Ravishanker of EW about AI in schools, safe social media usage and coping with learning loss.

With over 2 decades of experience in school education Harish has served as Principal and Director in schools in India and overseas. He has been associated with CBSE curriculum development committees, including those involved in Design Thinking, and has also worked as a trainer for CBSE and CISCE.

At the Jaipuria Group, Harish leads technology and AI-driven initiatives focused on literacy enhancement and personalized learning. He was recognized by the Governor of Odisha in 2018 for his leadership at the Sahodaya Schools Complex in Bhubaneswar and was felicitated at the Gulf Sahodaya Conference for his contributions to school education.

"Major global concerns such as climate change, inequality, poverty, AI and automation, and displacement and migration need to be studied from an interdisciplinary perspective, but academic tribalism continues to protect disciplinary boundaries. There are five major hurdles sabotaging interdisciplinary research: epistemological clashes, the lack of a common vocabulary, inadequate institutional funding, the absence of dedicated journals, and academia's chronic silos syndrome. Academic tribalism is the norm, and egoistic clashes often hinder collaboration even when faculty work together. While everyone admits that interdisciplinarity is the future, institutional hurdles prevent research from translating into action. The ecosystem breeding academic tribalism must be challenged, interdisciplinarity consciously promoted, and faculty undertaking interdisciplinary projects incentivised."
