Emversity has appointed Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava as president – higher education and policy.
Emversity, operated by Beyond Odds Technologies Pvt Ltd, works with universities to integrate academic programmes with industry-focused skills training. It supports more than 40 higher education campuses and over 7,000 active learners, mainly in healthcare, travel and hospitality programmes.
In his new role, Srivastava will oversee partnerships with universities, advise on programme design and ensure alignment with India’s credit and qualifications frameworks. He will also represent the company in public policy forums and chair its Governance Council, which oversees regulatory compliance and governance.
Srivastava served as vice-chairman of the University Grants Commission from 2022 to 2025 and held additional charge as chairman of the Indian Council of Social Science Research. He has also served as deputy director of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and director of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, New Delhi.
His experience in skilling includes work with the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission and the National Skill Development Corporation.
“Prof. Srivastava brings experience across academia, institutional leadership, regulation and skilling. His judgement will strengthen how we work with universities and what students gain from our programmes,” said Vivek Sinha, founder and CEO of Emversity.
“India’s skilling ambitions depend on programmes that combine academic rigour with pathways to employment. I look forward to strengthening the connection between universities, industry and student outcomes,” Srivastava said.
